Andrew Bird’s fourth album, Armchair Apocrypha, is not one to be forgotten; its somber violin-thick musings tore at the hearts of critics in 2007 and scored Mr. Bird a huge amount of popularity and acclaim. And now it’s clear that he’s about to do the same again with Noble Beast, due out January 20th. In the record he takes his usual formula of ambient melancholy and mixes it with a delicious flavor of pop, and the result is simply beautiful.
