Richie Cunning – “Pure Imagination”
The problem with sampling is that anything and everything that uses other music is categorized as such. When I think of sampling, I think of the Grey Album, which wasn’t just Kanye rapping over a Daft Punk song or Beyoncé ruining a Major Lazer song, but instead a complex series of sampled riffs and beats all layered over a capella tracks to create something that was legitimately brand spanking new. Richie Cunning is a new name to me but after hearing what he’s done with Willy Wonka’s soundtrack for just one song, you can call me a fan.
His website has some nifty free downloads if you were interested.
