Sometimes, you meet someone and things are wonderful for a little while. You take walks in the middle of the night by the lake. You play beer pong and drink whiskey together. You spend hours on your back staring at white walls and ceilings while talking about nothing. You run across black ice by empty streets.
After some time, things stop being wonderful, and you’re only left wondering why certain sequences of events came to be. Why things stopped suddenly. Why you care less. Why he’s polite but cold.
Sometimes things just don’t work out. Nobody did anything wrong. Time passes, and people find each other; people break apart. And there’s nothing you can do but to keep on going until things change again. The people in the past have a profound impact on our present and our future, but we’ll keep going. Life always happens.
