I unashamedly love pop music. Out of everyone on the Ladies’ staff, I’m easily the one who listens to the most pop music, and I defend it against all these damn hipsters in the blogosphere.
American pop music has the the lovely ladies of Beyonce, Rihanna, and Ke$ha. British pop music has Adele, Ellie Goulding, and new up and comer Katy B, who is set to drop her album On a Mission on April 4th. This track, “Broken Record”, is the 3rd and most recent single released to promote the album. Everything I’ve heard up until this point has been really quite good, but “Broken Record” is really her best, an incredible pop song.
All female pop stars inevitably get compared to the great Robyn in my mind, and Katy B really reminds me a lot of Robyn here, both in the catchy pop hook and lyrics about confusing boys who break hearts. Give the track a chance and you’ll be singing along soon enough.
