Devotchka – “100 Other Lovers”

It’s funny: I can generally recall every detail of every regretful moment in my life while all of the “good memories”—laughing friends and late nights—are fuzzy. Devotchka weaved in and out of my life over the course of five years, often being an arm around my shoulder in those dark moments of lonely regret. The most recent was in my junior year: I slumped down in a corner of a hallway and listened to A Mad & Faithful Telling, over and over and over again. The mere presence of this eclectic culture-clash of a band’s music in my life made that moment a good memory, washed of loneliness and depression.

Today, with this particular memory, I can only recall the music; I can’t even remember for the life of me what I was depressed about.
Now it looks like they’re back to comfort me once more, and I gladly welcome them. So, here’s to the future, you guys. Your new album is just as awesome as the last. Let’s make some new memories.

NPR is streaming their new album now. Go listen to it over and over and over again.
