Normally, I don’t really do straight up R&B, but this is such a phenomenal album that I can’t help but be obsessed with it. On paper, The-Dream’s resume speaks for itself; he’s the man behind two of last decade’s most banging pop hits: Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”. His solo album, however, is so much more complex than that, a serious piece of art that is obviously from a man who knows that he’s incredible. The-Dream’s got swagger, simple as that, and it’s not off-putting at all. In fact, his arrogance (which shines through so well in his lyrics) might be the best thing about him. Check it out.
