Christian Scott – “Angola, LA & The 13th Amendment”

Christian Scott brings in rock music instrumentation and attitude in his trio’s arrangements, but at the same time retains the jazz tradition of improvisation and expression. The result is like musical slam poetry. After the songs have finished, it feels almost as if he’s presented an opening argument for you to conclude or rebut. This song will probably be the newest thing you’ll see from us this week, being from his most recent album Yesterday You Said Tomorrow, which was released last March.

It’s jazz week at Something For The Ladies. Do you have a jazz piece that has earned a special place in your heart? Tell us about it.
