When trying to figure out why one song or artist is consistently better than another, I’ve repeatedly arrived at the same answer time and time again: attitude. Music is about attitude, and in some genres it’s more important or more easily defined than in others. Hip hop and rap rely heavily on attitude often as the pure driving force of the songwriting. This mixtape as a result is a case study of attitude in rap, and it’s by-far the most raw in its series. Veterans of both OutKast and the Wu sit side-by-side with others in acoustic harmony in the third part of White Boy’s Beat.
