Coldplay - “Hurts Like Heaven”
In November of my senior year of high school, I went with a couple of friends to a Coldplay show. Our seats were so far back that sitting in my seat, my head actually was touching the back wall of the stadium. My friend Meredith had to use the restroom, and I had to stretch my legs, but on the way there, we ran into a member of their staff who handed us 4th row, center stage tickets. I guess they reserved the best seats in house for enthusiastic but poor kids; our entire area was filled with young people with similar stories to ours. They wanted people to jump around and dance and cry right in front of them. Coldplay plays for massive audiences, but they’re still all about creating something personal, too. Mylo Xyloto certainly feels that way; these are tunes that you sing along with your pals on the way home and also songs that you cry with after having your heart broken.
