After several months, I am still finding myself captivated by Dark Was The Night, the Red Hot compilation of blooming independent artists arranged by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National. The compilation examines the traditional techniques of music and showcases how people like Zach Condon are applying them to fresh compositions. This Beirut song is one of the many highlights from the selection, and it’s also an indicator that these songs were collected over a span of several years.
